A Writer's Life

It is already May.  The year is half over.  What have you done?  Is the book complete?  Have you written anything? Don't worry.  Don't despair.  Now is the time. I know that writing a 400 page book is a daunting task.  It is overwhelming.  I have a solution for that. Write a scene at a time. Write a scene a week. Write a scene a month. Whatever you can do, that is what you write.  No pressure.  It is your book.  The important thing is to write, no matter what.  Write a sentence a day.  Write 100 words a day.  The more you write, the more you will want to write, the more pages you will write. I have been writing and publishing a short story a month for the past year.  It is hard sometimes and sometimes it is not.  That is my goal.  I also started a 400 page novel.  100,000 words. Let me tell you, I would rather right a short story, but the characters are screaming in my head to get their story told. So I will still write a short story a month and work on my novel.
