Publicity Pictures, How to Choose

I got up at 8:00am, it is now noon and I am still writing.  I have an office, but for some reason I am in my bedroom, writing on my lap top in bed.  I have The Monkees in my CD player. As you know I have written Zombie Stories, but I am also a Christian and GOD has told me to write about my walk with Him, hence my other  Blog This morning I have been working on a non-fiction Christian book.  A Daily Devotion.  The Series I am working on that is Fiction is living in the last days, before the Rapture. Also I need to update all the past books that I have published on  Amazon I have a lot to do.  I write best right when I wake up.  I wake up and grab a pepsi and turn on the computer, once I start doing something else, I get out of the mood.  So writing for me is best when I wake up.  I usually lay in bed, thinking what I am going to work on when I get up, then there is no doubt what I am going to do when I wake up. I also have books, magazines and handwritten pages on the flo

I Quit My Day Job/Now What

I no longer employed.  Saturday was my last day at a job that I worked for 27 years.  I walked away from a good paying job with benefits and health insurance.  Why would I do that?  Why would anyone walk away from a secure job with benefits? It was now or never.  I came to a point in my life that I would rather just die than work one more day at a job that was sucking the life out of me. It was a good job, but by the time I got to my two days off, I was so tired, I slept on my days off.  I never felt good.  I was exhausted.  I new what books I wanted to write.  I was writing long hand at work.  I have stacks of pages written in longhand, when I got home I was to tired to type the pages into the computer. I was miserable.  Society says that we have to work 40 hours a week and work until we are 65-67 years old.  I knew for a fact that I would not make working until I was 62 let along 67.  I physically or mentally will not make it. I trudged into work, day in and day out miserable

Get Self-Published Within A Month

Become Self-Published Within A Month I Wrote  Zombie Zoo   in one afternoon.  It was 5,000 word short story.  I was at work, talking to a co-worker and we were talking about The Walking Dead.  I said that I could write a Zombie Story.  He said, you so could. I went home and wrote, Zombie Zoo, 5,000 word short story.  I went to  Kindle Direct Publishing  I learned to format my file, had the co-worker draw this picture for the cover.  I published the short story and less than 24 hours of publication, I sold a copy.  I knew this was for me.  I can write, edit, create a cover and self-publish.  My dream of a writer came true.  No one can tell me any longer that I am not a writer.  I can write and publish on my schedule.  I answer to no one. If you want to see your writing published, hold your book in your hand.  Sell your writing in other countries, nothing is stopping you, except you. If I can do this, you can do this.  All I ever wanted to do was to write.  Now look at m

A Writer's Schedule

It is 5 in the morning.  I couldn't sleep.  I have 12 chicks in my bathtub.  Saturday is my last day as an employed person.  I still have bills to pay.  My mind has been racing all night.  I could not sleep.  I woke up at 4 in the morning.  Yes I want to write my 4 book series, but the other main thing I want and need to do is to blog. Blog about my writing life. Blog on my walk with GOD. So I climbed out of bed.  Drank a glass of orange juice.  Took my Zertec.   Grabbed a Pepsi, prayed.  Read the Bible.  Turned on the computer and here I am.  The house is quiet.  I have my Monkey's CD on and am now blogging. As a writer, I have to write when I can.  When I wrote ,  Me VS Zombies Series  I worked the night shift.  10:00pm-6am  Some might say that is a terrible shift and it is,but not for a writer.  I worked at night and slept during the day.  On my nights off.  I did not try to be a day person.  I still slept during the day and on my nights off, I had the entire night t

Writing While At Work

I don't have a stressful job.  I am a cashier at a grocery, sure people get on my nerves, and annoy  me, but I don't have to think about what I do.  I have my 15 Beats, but now I have to make an outline and place the beats where they belong.  I take a notebook with me and have it at the register.  While it was slow, I was thinking, plotting and outlining.  While at work, I now have my beats placed where I think they should be, and then I am like:  "Okay, I think I can do this."  So while I am at work, I am not thinking at work at all, I am thinking of my writing.  So I am blessed that I have a job that is not stressful. So if you have a boring job, use that down time to think about your writing and scribble notes on something.  I use receipt paper. Today it is cold and raining and my turn into freezing rain, so I called into day.  I will use to day to write.  I will let you know how far I get today. Keep On Writing

Opening Image Of Save The Cat

Yesterday, I viewed the last of the videos from the class I purchased from  Jessica Brody  She walks you through all 15 beats of the story. I viewed all of them.  I thought my story was dull and boring, So I am taking her advice and am reworking all of my beats.  The story will be the same, but better. Last night I was tired, but I wanted to write the opening scene.  I wrote 1,000 words before going to bed.  Not sure yet if the opening scene is right, but lest it is a start On her website, she has a cool resource, called the Word//Page Count Calculator: Type in the word count of the novel and it will tell you the word count should be at each beat. I printed it out. and taped it onto my notebook, that I am using for the 15 beats and outline.  Then I can see if I am on track while writing.  I think this is the coolest thing and very helpful.  Check it out at at  Jessica Brody   click on For Writers and then Resources.  I do believe I am on my way to writing this book and fi

Jessica Brody on Save The Cat

If you have been reading my posts, you know that I am plotting my book using the book  Save The Cat  Writes a Novel.  If you are interested in writing a Screen Play.   Save The Cat  is the book you need.  I have purchased all the Save The Cat Books.  I am not getting any money for blogging about these books. These books explains everything, in a different way, and it makes complete sense.  I have stacks of writer's books.  I have spent hundreds of dollars and even thousands of dollars on writer's courses and conferences.  This is the last book I will need on writing. So, yesterday I watched more of the videos.  Needless to say, I am re-plotting my novel.  Same Concept, but listening to Jessica Brody on the videos, made me realize why I think my book is dull and boring.  That is why I kept re-writing the first 50 pages.  It was boring.  So I am going to think on this and re-plot. I had the last 3 days off work to think and watch the videos.  If you are interested in this c

Re-Plotting

In previous post I mentioned that I was following the structure of the book Save The Cat Writes A Novel by  Jessica Brody  well, I have read that book twice and plotted the novel, then I discovered she had a workshop on the book.  I purchased the on line workshop yesterday.  I am not changing the story, but I am changing things a bit and will have to rewrite from the beginning. I am getting nothing from talking about this method of plotting.  I am just blogging on how I am going to write this 4 book series  and the ups and downs of writing.  I have the book in my head.  I have the series in my head.  It is getting it on paper that I am having problems with.  I can write 10,000 words a day in longhand, but if it is just words, what is the point?  I want to write these books. I am quitting my job in May.  I have to do something or I will never publish this series. So the workshop is based on the book Save The Cat Writes A Novel, even though I have read the book and take it to work
