A Writer's Life

Now that I am typing my hand written pages into the computer I need to remind myself to BACK-UP my copies. I am not good at doing this till something goes wrong, and then it is to late. So save your pages as you write so you won't loose anything.

Do  you love your story?  Are you excited before you sit down at the computer?  Do you think about your story when you are doing other things? I do.  I love my story and am excited to get it done.  I am sure others also want their story finished, alos. but there is always work to be done, rewriitng, editing, more rewriting.  So I put two chapters in the computer came up with a super good idea for the ending and am doing more rewrititng. I sat in front of the computer yesterday for 5 hours.  My arms hurt and I had an ache in my back.  I typed 20 pages into my the computer.  I really like my story and am very excited about writing it.  I think one needs to be excited about what you are writing about.  If you are not excited, no one else will be. I don't talk about my writing to anyone.  I keep it to byself.  I find that no one really cares that I write.  Now if I was making a lot of money I am sure people in my life would take notice, but at this point no one really cares, so I keep it to myself. I get up early to write before I go to work, blog, and check e-mail.  Not everyone is willing to do the work.  I am willing to do the work and sometimes it is not fun.  So I am up early and will have to go to work in about 4 hours to make donuts. My life might be dull and boring to others, but I am now a published Indie Writer.  I could not be happier.  I go to work and I write.  That sums up my life. I did to go

I know it is easy getting lost in your writing.  Take time to look up and think of others. Irene is almost gone. please pray for the people on the east coast.  Think of others, cause one day you may need a pray and alittle help. Hope you all have a great day and Happy Writing.

I have the rough draft finished and am ready to start rewriting.  So now it it is time to get serious, and start rewriting and editing. When I was working on the book My Bible--My God it was the editing that I found tedious.  So this time I need to dig down and get it finished.  I want it published by January.  I think I am giving me plenty of time. I keep a notebook with me all the time, even when I am at work, so I can write down my thoughts and take notes. I woke up early to write before going to work. I watched the end of Castaway with Tom Hank and Helen Hunt.  The scene where he goes to his wife's house and it is raining out, she runs out and hugs him tellling him that she always thought he was alive but everyone told her she had to move on. I tear fell on my cheek.  I love that part of the movie. Officer and a Gentleman, where Richard Gere walks in in is uniform and carries off Debra Winger out of the factory.  That is a great ending. My favorite is Carey Grant in Notorious.  I think I have the title right.  You do not have to know what the movie is about but the last half hour of the movie is so romantic and is the best ending ever.  She is a spy and she has been found out.  Carey Grant has to go into the enemy's house. climb the staircase and get into her room.  She is to weak to stand on her own, since they drugged her.  He helps her down the stairs and they are faced with the enemy.  What the two of them say to each other and are willing to risk their lives f

There are no excuses not to follow your dream, no matter what that dream is.  My dream is to be a writer.  I am now a published author, an Indie Author.  I am busy writing on a romance novel, an inspirational romance and it is coming along.  I would love to be a couch potatoe and watch tv, but the characters are screaming in my head so there story can be told. The humidity was high so I just wrote in longhand.  I woke up and no humidity.  A little warm but not hot and sticky.  So now I am back on the computer.  I am working on Chapter 15 and moving right along. The October issue of Writer's Digest has a good section on the first 50 Pages.  A check list for the first 1,000 words.  Might want to check out that issue. I didn't renew my membership to Romance Writer's of America.  I wish I could of but since I am now an Indie Author, I didn't see the point of spending the $85.00.  I don't plan on going to the National Conferences so I decided to spend the money on publishing and promoting my books.  So many people are going Indie and I feel that is the way to go.  That is the way I am going.  I like saying that I am an Indie Writer. We all have dreams.  We all want something better.  We all have a secret desire that no one understands.  We are artists and sometimes people don't understand us.  I know that a lot of people do not understand me. I write.  I work and I sleep.  Not a very exciting life.  This  is the life I want. I am following my dream,  I am an INDIE WRITER and no one can take that away from me.  I am proud of that fact.  I spend hours alone writing in longhand, and sitting at the computer.  My arm aches.  My hands hurt and that is okay with me.  I am following my dream.  I am 50 years old and am not looking back. Now is the time to be a published writer.  There is no reason not to bu published with the tech today. Yesterday I didn't go online.  Instead I wrote, 20 pages.  I couldn't stop writing.  I wrote in longhand and took my notepad and wrote on break and on my lunch.  Needless to say my e-mails piled up and I didn't blog but that is okay cause I got a lot of writing done.  I don't know what the balance is between writing and social network. I do need help in this department.  So today I am on line for a limited time and plan to write before I go to work. How do you keep a balance between writing and being on line????

I decided to finish writing my story in longhand.  I am coming up with good ideas.  Not sure if it will make any sense to anyone else, but I really like this story and I can't stop writing.  So I am going to finish the story in longhand before I start putting it in the computer.  I don't want to stop writing just to type the pages into the computer. This might take a bit longer, but I don't want to stop writing.  I need to stop checking my e-mails and concentrate on the story. How long should it take to write a book?? How long does it take you to write your story?? I think about my writing while I work.  My job is not that hard, making donuts and waiting on customers.  While I was on break yesterday I wrote down some thoughts and made some notes.  Then I had to watch the front and wait on customers, in between customers I started making more notes.  When I arrived home, I had about 5 pages of notes.  Not bad for just thinking at work.  Then when I did get ready to write, I had some notes to get me going in the right direction.  I know that not all of you can write while at work, but make notes when you can so you don't forget your ideas. The other day I had a great idea, and by the time I was ready to write it down, I forgot it and it took me a few hours to remember it.  So I did to keep making notes.  Not a bad idea.  I wear jeans to work so I just put paper in pen in my back pocket.  No one knows at work that I am writing while I am working. I think I spend to much money on ink.  I print out everything I find on the internet.  I have stacks of printed out paper.  I save everything.  I think this is a good thing.  I know where it is even if it is a year later.  So I do spend a lot of money on ink and paper. I also print out hard copies of my manuscript.  Whether it is one chapter or a complete manuscript.  Then I edit on a hard copy and then I reuse the back of the paper to write notes or just to write longhand.  I did buy a good printer and so far it hasn't let me down.  I buy ink before I need it, so if I am writing at one in the morning and need ink I will have it at the house. I do need to buy computer paper.  I need to stock up again. Anyone else out there Ink Crazy   Paper Crazy????? I just spent the last 15 minutes trying to post a blog and then it only posted half of the blog.  So I am going to try again.  I think I spend to much time trying to figure out the computer than writing. Like I said, I have written 10 pages and still have a couple of hours to write till I have to venture off into the real world.  I got up and decided to write in the bedroom so I didn't have to look at the tv.  I am in awe of people who know how to run these computers.  They have a gift.  I need to get back to writing. http://iamwalkingwithgod.blogspot.com/

Who knew that being in the low 90'S was cool weather.  Not much humidity and that is good.  I got up and didn't turn tv on.  I brought everything into the bedroom and wrote where I can not see the televison.  I have written ten pages and not finished yet.  So the cool weather has brought me back to life.  I am thinking of getting central air for next summer.  Need to see how much that would cost. I am watching less tv and getting more writing done.  I have a couple more hours to write till I have to run errands and ventute out into the real world.  

I am proud to be an Indie Author and I am so surprised how many Indie Authors are out there. So I am busy trying to finish my next book by the first of the year, though I am a bit behind.  The hot weather slowed me.  I wrote last night and and wrote about 5 pages before I went to work.  I am plugging along.  Work, checking e-mails, facebook and blogging, where does the time go????? I feel that writing keeps me sane.  I like to write.  I think writing is my therapy.  I like writing and seeing what my characters have to say and what they are doing.  I have a better attitude for the day and feel better when I am at work. Typing on the computer makes my body ache. I have a sore muscle in my arm.  I try to ignore the pain and use icy hot on my arm.  I feel old using icy hot and it does work.  So I keep typing.  I know that I do not sit right.  I do not sit at my desk typing.  I am sitting on the couch, the floor or in bed.  So it is my own fault that I am in pain.  I am a bit stubborn when it comes to some things. So what do you do when you are sore and achey when you are sitting at the computer???? The first half of the book is finished.  I have written the first ten chapters.  The hot weather has slowed me down and tonight a thunderstorm hit and I had to turn every thing off.  A bit scary, but the storm has past. At work, I plotted out the next 7 chapters.  The guy I work with thought I was writing a nasty note about someone.  I kept writing and didn't say what I was doing, it was none of his business and I keep writing and don't care what my co-workers think I am writing about.  I find it kinda of funny. Writitng is a commitment to yourself so I am struggling along. Have a great weekend

It had cooled off a bit, and I managed to write 12 pages in long hand.  Summer is not over but least I got a break from the heat and got some writing done.  So I am happy about that. I came up with some good ideas and am back on track.  The heat has zapped the energy out of me and I still have to go to work.  I guess that is life. I plan on writing another scene before I go to work. Write something today.

Wednesday it was 112 degrees outside, so when I got up to go to woek, I didn't go online to blog.  It was so hot and muggy in my place that I didn't turn the computer on and thenThursday rain came and what a difference.  I love summer, but 112 is a bit warm and that didn't inclcude the heat index, so this heat is effecting my writing.  I bought some spiral notebooks and plan on getting organized.  I need to get my chapter and scenes written down in order so I can refer to them easier.  I need to get all my characters in one notebook so I can keep their eye color and hair color right.  So my characters will look the same in chapter 2 as they do in chapter 15.  So that is my plan to get organized and get writing.  I know that the heat wave is not over, but this cool break has awaken my creative once again. How many words should one write in a day???? How can one person write 3 or 4 books a year??? I don't get it.  I am doing my best to finish this book, and I recieved my issue of Romantic Times, and I see that people have written 4 books in a series and I am struggling to finish one book. The Month of August is always hot and I do have problems writing when it is this hot and I am worried about the computer getting to hot.  So I am still writing in longhand. So maybe I am just whining, I need to put my big girl panties on and deal with it. So I will. It is hot outside with no end in sight.  I have no air conditioner and I am not complaing.  But it is hot outside and inside.  I finished Chapter 9 and working on chapter 10.  So I am still writing, though it is hot out.  hope everyone is dealing with the heat and enjoying the summer. I splurged and went to the movies Sunday.  I saw Cowboy & Aliens.  It was the best movie ever.  I Loved that Movie.  Can not say one bad thing about the movie.  It was a good summer fun movie. So that was my excitement yesterday.  This was not a remake.  Something new.  Something different.  So when you are writing, don't try to write what others are writitng or try to write the next bestseller.  Write your own story.  Your passion will come through.  Create your own characters and your own story line and see what happns.  I know that my stories are different and not everyone will like it, but my stories will find its aundience.
