A Writer's Life

Every writer wants to hold their book in their hands.  I am one of those people.  I want to hold my books in my hands. I also want to sell books.  My first book was a print book, through www.createspace.com   I sold books to friends, customers from my day job and gave some away.  Later I put the book on www.amazon.com   I would check my sales and be thrilled to have made a sale.  People that I didn't know were buying my books.  I am more happy and thrilled when someone buys my e-books that I don't know.  I then learned that I didn;t have to write 100,000 word novel, I could write 5,000 word story and publish it on Kindle.  If I write fast, I could write and publish a short story a month.  Wow! There is a thought.  To put the idea to the test in 2014 I wrote and published a short story every month, sometimes I wrote and published 2 E-Books.  I was totally focused on my writing this year.  I now have 48 E-Books published on Amazon.  www.amazon.com/author/sharonleejohnson

I wrote and published a short story every month, sometimes 2 a month.  I learned to do things that I didn't know how to do. I learned to Format my files.  Kindle has it free on their website on how to Format, in PDF Form or E-Book form.  I learned how to format for Kindle and now I can publish on my schedule and don't have to wait for someone else to do it for me. This is KEY to publishing on your schedule and not someone's schedule.  Kindle has a Kindle Book Converter. You can create Book Covers for FREE.  Stop listening to others telling you that you can not do it yourself. What do you really want to write? A thriller?  A romance?  Something out of the box?  Something that others had said would never sell? This year I decided to have 50 E-Books published on Amazon by December 2014. As of October of 2014 I have 48 E-books on Amazon. www.amazon.com/author/sharonleejohnson I concentrated all year on writing and publishing an E-Book every month.  I have 2 E-Books to go and I know that is within reach. This year has been a learning process.  I learned that I can write and publish quickly if I want to.  I learned how to be focus and determined to reach my goals and deadlines, even though I have no one to answer to except me. 2015 is around the corner.  I have new goals.  I won't be witing and publishing every month.  I want to write longer stories.  I now can sit at the computer longer.  When I started I could only write 100 words at a time.  Now I can sit and write 3,000 words in one sitting. I started out as a Paranormal Romance Writer.  I then switched to Zombie Writer with my Series Me VS Zombies. 2015 I am going to go back to Paranormal Romance Writer.  I have 4 book idea

I spent the last week with no phone, no internet, no computer.  I survived.  Could you? I needed a break. This past year I have published one or more short story every month.  I was drained.  I am 2 E-Books from having 50 E-books on Amazon.  www.amazon.com/author/sharonleejohnson   That is my goal this year.  To have 50 E-books published on Amazon.  I am close, then my I started getting distracted.  I have like 5 books started.  I couldn't focus on one single story.  So what did I do? I spent most of my time on facebook and twitter.  I wrote a little, but my word count was down and I was not getting anywhere.  I checked my sales all the time.  I felt like I was on a treadmill and going nowhere. The week is over and I didn't miss anything.  I am more focused and I know what I need to do.  I made the goals for next year.  I am more focused and ready to write. I just hit the publish button for Episode 32 of Me VS Zombies. I have the next Episode started. I am working
