A Writer's Life

I don't care what you think of yourself or what others think or say.  If you write, YOU ARE A WRITER. Tape this to your computer!  Your Bathroom Mirror.  On Your Phone! Believe It.! I have been writing all my life.  I have been rejected by all the publishing houses in the USA.  Then E-Books came alone.  My entire life changed. My point is, your dream of being a published writer, selling your books and holding your own book in your hands is within your grasp.  You have to believe in yourself and not listen to anyone, but the dreamer in you. I am back on my evening work schedule starting today.  I now can write during the day before I go to work. I got up and have already put 2 hours writing time.  I went through the non-fiction book DIY Writing Career Zombie Style. I now know what I need to rewrite and what to edit.  My goal is to have this published January 2016.  It will take time to edit.  I hate editing.  It is time consuming and not fun for me.  It has to be done. When I first started out, I didn't have an editor.  I could not find one that I could afford.  I read and reread the story and used my spell checker.  I now found an editor I can afford. I am all about being debt free.  I don't think anyone should go into debt to be published.  So do what you think is best for you. I went through the manuscript and made notes.  I know soon I will be sitting at the computer going word for word and line for line before I send it to the editor. I hate ...

I rearranged my writing space.  I moved my desk into the corner of the kitchen.  I am by a window and plants are next to my desk.  I realize that the kitchen might not be for everyone.  I needed to get out of the bedroom.  I would sit in bed with my laptop and the next thing I knew, I was lying down and getting tired.  I don't want to be in the living room because the tv would lure me away from writing. What works for me will not work for you.  You need to have a place where no one will bother your stuff and where you can concentrate on writing.  My house is small and space is limited. I have been sitting at my desk for the past 3 hours.  I was on facebook and twitter promoting my books at my desk.  I have the cd player on and am in the writing zone. I am back at my job with evening hours and am thrilled.  For the past 3 months I was a day person at work.  I had a hard time writing while writing during the day.  I ...

Everyone has their own way of plotting and outlining.  Whatever works for you is how you should do it. I like to use pen and paper.  I took 20 sheets of paper, Wrote Chapter 1, Chapter 2 etc on each page.  Each page is a chapter.  You can also use index cards they would be smaller and you could put them in your purse or notebook. I then had some scenes that was a must to go into the book.  I wrote a short description of the scene where I thought it would go.  I have my plot plot points.  Plot Points is where something HUGE happens and makes the character turn in a different direction or changes the course of their lives.  Plot Point 1  Chapter 5 Plot Point 2 Chapter 10 Ploit Point 3 Chapter 15 Dark Moment  (When all seems lost)  Chapter 18 or 19 Resolution  Happy Ending or the Problem is solved I write the plot points where they go. Then I go back and start writing 1-2 sentence of each scene for the chapter....
