A Writer's Life

Do You have Goals? Do you have so many ideas in your head that your characters are talking to you, yelling at you and screaming at you to write their story? I hear voices.  I hear the characters talk to each other.  I hear the characters laughing and crying.  I feel my characters pain. Do you hear your characters talking to you? It is not something that I talk about, people don't understand writers. Yes I have goals for 2017.  I want to write more than 1 book.  I would like to write 3.  I am concentrating on 2. Book 1 Is a story about my life.  Which might seem easy to write.  Write what you know.  It is harder than writing fiction. Book 2 is a Christian Christmas Romance Novel.  It is fun, during Christmas time and is a nice break when the non fiction book gets overwhelming. It doesn't matter if you want to write just one book or five books this year.  What is important is that you write, if that is what you want to do.  Don't listen to anyone who says anyt

Are You Ready For 2017? I get excited for the New Year.  I can put the past behind me and look ahead to new goals.  Every year at this time, I get excited to go to the store to purchase new pens, pick out new notebooks, sticky pads, legal pads. I get free calendars from the electric company and bank.  I am ready to write. Are You Ready to Write, Edit & Publish in 2017? In my last post I talked about goals.  Did you write your 2017 goals down and post them somewhere you can see them daily? Make a list of supplies that you need and want to accomplish your writing goals for 2017. 1. Calendars 2.  sticky notes (Buy color ones to make it more fun) 3. Pens 4.  legal pads 5.  Staples & a new stapler 6.  Computer Paper 7.  Ink for printer Claim your writing space. My writing space usually gets the mail thrown on it. Clear a writing spot and let everyone know that this space is not for junk mail etc.  It will make it easier to find what you are working on. I have

This year went by fast.  I had plans for 2016.  I did not do what I wanted to do.  What I really want to do is to take a year off and write, promotion and market.  I don't see that happen.  So I am looking forward to 2017 What Are Your Goals? My Goals: 1  Write my full length  Book 2.  Write a Christmas Book 3.  Update my published E-Books with links, maybe change book covers. Those are my three major things I want to get done. This is what I am working on: 1.  Taking writing class. write a novel in 100 Days.  Not only am I writing the novel, I also have to work on the assignments throughout the 100 days.  I am on week 2. 2.  I am working on a non-fiction book of my life.  That is going to be 100,000 word Book.  I have the scenes written out that I want in the book.  Am writing it in long hand because it is emotional to write.  So write in long hand and then put into computer. 3.  Working on 3 short non-fiction book in my series My Bible--My GOD  One is almost complete, One is half complete and the other one is not started. The reason I have so many in progress is that they are in my head and I need to write them.  I never have writer's block.  I am always working and writing on a book. I always have a notebook with me even at work.  I carry the notebook at work and customers think I am the manager.  Funny, because I am a checker, which is a good thing for a writer, cause I can think about my writ

Do you have a writing schedule?  Do you stick to it?  Does life get in the way? I would like to have a writing schedule.  When I plan to write, things come up or I am just to tired to write and end up lying on the couch with a bag of chips and watching the Hallmark Channel. Today was a great day for writing and there is no special reason.  I woke up in a good mood.  I finished a rough draft of a non-fiction book in my My Bible  My GOD Series. I printed out the rough draft of another book for my series My Bible My GOD series.  I have been on the computer for the past ten hours.  I started writing in my bedroom and a few hours later I moved into the living room.  I can write while the tv is on.  I may not be watching the tv but it is back ground noise. Today was a good day of writing.  I haven't published anything for a few months.  That is about to change. I started my writing course.  This week is on point of view.  I am waiting for my writing assignment. I am back in t

I started a writing course today to write a novel within 100 days.  The workshop is by Terri Main.  She is a writer and a teacher.  Check her out on amazon. I have been learning to publishing on www.createspace.com .  Then summer was here.  I have been writing, but just not focused on one thing.  My mind kept wondering with new ideas. So I am taking this course. I am going to have to write 1,000 words a day, plus do my writing assignments. This is my number one pet peeve on being self published.  There are people, website, and courses out there, that want your money. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEND! There are websites out there that will charge you for services that you can learn to do yourself.  If you don't want to learn these things that is fine, pay for it.  But if the reason that you are paying for services is because you don't t think you can, you are totally wrong. I have said this before and I am saying it again.  I knew nothing when I started in 2011,  I had a computer.  I had no idea how to send a file via e-mail. I had no idea what to do one I got the file back from the formatter.  How do I get it uploaded on Amazon.  I had no idea that I had more than one drive on the computer.  I downloaded a file and had no idea where it went. If you are thinking that you can not learn this.  I am proof you can learn if you set your mind to it and are willing to learn. Don't pay someone to format your files.  D

I have rewritten the opening scene about 8 times.  I finally found the opening scene and it made sense.  I now know that I can move forward.  I felt like I was stuck and was never going to be able to move forward. The point is that I didn't give up.  I kept rewriting till I found the scene.  I know that I am going to have to rewrite the book after the first draft is written.  So I am very excited.
