A Writer's Life

I have two desks.  I don't use them at all.  They are a catch all.  I have a lap top.  That lets me write wherever I want to.  I can write outside.  I can write in bed, I can write on the floor.  Right now I am writing on the couch.  I love my laptop. I know that I do not sit correctly and am probably going to have aches and pains later.  Sometimes my leg will fall asleep or a muscle in my arm will ache later.  I just live with the pain.  I don't want to sit at a desk.  That is the freedom of being a writer.  I can write whenever and wherever. Editing is the worse for me.  I like to write and not have to think.  Then comes the editing and I have to force myself to edit and get it finished.  I am now editing the 5th Episode of Zombie Zoo.  I have been at it for about three hours and needed to take a break.  I have been at the computer for the past four hours.  I have read that the more books you have out, the better your chances are at selling.  This is a lot harder than one might think.  I am always writing, rewriting and editing. I take my notebook to work and work on my writing on my breaks and lunch time.  I carry my notebook at work where ever I go.  I tell everyone that I am a writing.  I am no longer hiding it. I have to write, edit  and write some more. Editing is just part of the process.  How do you edit??????  Any sugesstions?????/

It is true.  One can make money by writing and selling on Amazon.  I recieved my first royality check from http://www.amazon.com/ .   Though I am not going to be able to quit my day job, I did make some money.  It is enough to know that I can make it as a writer, as long as I never give up. Some might say that I am wasting my time, but it is never a waste of time to follow your heart and dreams.  I am doing what I love to do. Would you write if you never get paid???  Would you write a 400 page novel if you knew that there was no way anyone would ever read it? My answer is yes.  I am a writer.  That is who I am and what I do.  I write.  It is like breathing for me.  Good thing for me is that I do get paid for writing.  My books are selling.  Though I am not getting rich.  That is just a matter of time.  Everyone wants to write a book.  I hear that all the time.  I could write a book.  I am going to write a book.  Not everyone has the passion to write. I am honored.  Whether I write for money or write for free I am going to write.  I am a writer.  So don't give up.  Write for yourself and love what you write no matter what anyone else says. I am a writer and do not care what others think.  I do not compare myself to other writers or to other people.  If I start comparing myself to others, I will always look like a failure.  I need to focus on my writing and do what I think I need to to.  Someone will always be better than me.  Somone will always be thinking of writing that book.  So in a way I will be further along than others, but others will be ahead of me. All I can do is to write my stories and do my best.  I am not looking at others for approval.  The person that I want approval from the most, will only disappoint me.  So I am doing my best and that is all I can do. I am a writer and no one can take that away from me. The next time you are doubting yourself or are a bit depressed, know that you are a writer and be proud of that.  Be proud that you wrote today.  Celebrate or treat yourself to something after you get done writing.  A piece of chocolate, watching your favorite show.  Be proud that you are a writ

I have to switch my way of thinking.  I never thought of myself as a professional.  I like jeans and tee shirts.  I like my flip flops.  Now I am changing my way of thinking. I am a professional writer.  I went and had a website done, by professionals  http://sharonleejohnson.com/ I went and had my picute taken by professionals.  I suggest everyone do that.  I dreaded it, but it was a very positive experience.  Took only about 15 minutes.  So I started thinking, maybe I should consider myself a professional.  I am a serious writer.  I have 6 books on amazon for sale.  I need to take myself serious.  If I don't who will. So from this moment on I am a professional writer and I am making a living as a writer.  I do recieve monthly royality checks from the sale of my books.  I have people buying my books. I am a writer and I am going to start acting like one.  I will have to pay taxes on my writing.  That makes me self employed.  I am a business owner.  I am only going to

I finally have my website up and I love it!! http://sharonleejohnson.com/ Check it out and let me know what you think.  I am so excited.  All my books, print and e-books are now all in one place.  If you don't have a  website I think it is a good investment.  I paid someone to do it.  They gave me good advice.  Check out my picture.  I had it professionally done.  I never would of done that.  They suggested it and I went and did it.  It was not as bad as I thought it would be.  When I have another book ready they will put it on the website for me.  They are taking care of the website and I don't have to worry about it. I am terrible at  coming up with titles.  I make lists and lists of Titles till I come up with one that I like.  I know that the Title of the book is important, so I make sure that I am always thinking and jotting down titles of what I could use.  Then I come up with a title, and then find out that someone else used the same title, or similair to the one I was going to one. So it is a process and once I decide on a title I stick to it no matter who else decides to use the title.  One can not copyright a title.  So when you are deciding on a title, pick the one you like and go with it, no matter who else is using the title Zombie Zoo  A New Breed of Zombies   www.amazon.com/dp/B007L9UUVM

I had two days off and got a lot of  writing done.  Now I have to go back to work when I want to stay home and write.  I am going to take my notebook with me at work and write when I am on break and at lunch.  I am looking forward to the day when I don't have to go to work.  The day I can stay home and write. I know that people think I am just dreaming.  Being published was once a dream and now I am a published writer.  So dreams do come true. Writing is putting one word on the paper or screen at a time.  That is it and one never quits.  Work is just another reason not to write, but I will write when I can, now I have to think about work.  Writing is my work.  I am a writer.  No one can take can that away from me. So write something today.

I wrote 20 pages on my day off.  I am back and am focused.  I am working on getting a website built.  It is taking longer than I thought.  I will have two new books out in about three books, so I have been busy.  I have read that the more books you have out the more books you will sell.  I am going to put that info to the test.  My Zombie Zoo Series is doing good and I want to keep that going.  Check out my latest installment. I want to write.  I want to sell books.  I do not want think of myself as a professional person.  The truth is that I am self emplyed.  I am a business person and I have to start acting like one.  I am having a website created.  I am paying someone to build me one and they are taking me sersiously.  For the first time, someone that I don't know is looking at me, as if I am a professional writer.  That is a good feeling.  I sent them three pictures of myself and they do not like any of them.  I don't think I take a good picture.  So they suggested that I get a head shot done by a professional.  That means that I have to spend more money.  They said that I am selling myself and that I should have a good picture of myself.  I am listening to what they are saying, that is what I am paying them for.  So Monday morning I am going to go in and get my picture taken. Do I want to go and have my picture taken and leave the comfort of me sitting in front of the computer?  I do not, but
