A Writer's Life

I have always written stories most of my life.  Though I had no encouragement from my family.  I wrote in highschool on a 1950 manual typewriter.  I sent off my short stories and started recieving rejection letters.  They never really bothered me.  I was doing what I had to do.  I had stories to tell, so I wrote, mailed them off and worked on another story. The series I am now working on and will publish, myself, I have had this idea since 1995.  I liked the story and the characters.  I summited the first book in the series and have recieved about 30 rejection letters.  I have written about 5 other novels, but always came back to The Jordan Place Series, so that is the one I am going to piublish first. I got rejected, got divorced, ended up living in my truck for a few weeks and through all of that, I still continued to write.  It is who I am and what I do.  I have no choice.  I am very excited cause within a month or so ...

I am in editting mode.  I didn't watch tevevision yesterday or today.  If I am going to finish this book, I need to turn the tv off and just do it. I plan on using the month of October to edit my book.  Get It Done.  I will just not watch tv and totally immerse myself in this book.  I won't be much of a fun person, not that I am anyway.  I won't have anything to talk about at work, since I am not watching tv, but that is okay.  If I want this book to be published, this is the only way I can get it done. Silence isn't so bad.  I can hear myself think.  I could put some music on, but I want to hear my characters talk to me.  I want this book done and published. I work in a bakery.  I make dounts.  Trust me, no one is on a diet.  The owners came up with a new idea they saw on televison:  A Long John topped with Carmel and covered with real bacon bit???? What do you think??????  We sold 8 of them within an hour.  Doesn't sound good to me, Tell me what you think???? I am editing my book and that is coming along good.  I am carrying a note pad in my back pocket, in case I have an idea or thoughts about my writing.  this is the part I do not like but something I have to do, so I am just diving in and getting it done,.  I don't have the tv on it is all quiet so I can think and concentrate. I am starting to edit and I don't have a plan.  I have re-read the story two times and now am ready to edit it and get it done.  The next story is screaming at me to get her story written.  So I have no choice, but to edit the book, get it on line and start the next book. That is the plan. I have always written it is in me.  I have no choice, but to write.  Wht is your plan???? I have been working on the last scene...I want the last scene to be romanic and the readers to remember. I have come up with an ending I think will be romantic and tie in with the story.  So I am very excited.  I have already started plotting out the next book in the series and very excited about that.  First I have to edit and get this book ready so you all can read it and get excited along with me.  It has cooled off and though I do love hot weather, it is nice not to be hot and humid.  So I guess fall is a good thing. I am going to work on my book.  Work on the last scene.  It is time to Edit. How is your book going?? The book is in the computer and now the editing begins.  I hate to edit.  Something that has to be done. I will do some rewrite while I am editing.  I am giving myself 3 months to finish the rewrite and the edit.  It is not the number of pages I write but the time I spend with the book.  I like my story and will complete it.  I am very excited about the cover and the book. I have to admit that I didn't work on my book today.  I watched The View and had the cast of All My Children and then I watched the last show of All My Children.  I did write seven pages in long hand on a short story. I know that this has nothing to do with writing, but today is the last day for All My Children.  I am very upset that the show has ended.  It has been a part of my life and how am I going to survive without Erica Kane causing trouble for everyone. So I am just waiting for 10:00 am for The View today.  The whole cast of All My Children will be on the show and then I will have to wait for 12:00pm to watch the finally eposide.  Nothing else matters today except to see the last show.  I will say goodbye to the people of Pine Valley and try to go on with my life. Did you see it Thursday when they brought Stewert Back.  I cried.  Yes I cry during soap operas. So I am just waiting to see the final show of All My Children Anyone out there feel the same way???? I know that I should be concentrating on my book but I need to say goodbye to the cast of All My Children who always was there when I had nothing better to do.  I will miss them ...

The Princess Bookshop at the Rivercenter Mall in San Antonio, Tx   Doing the Happy Dance.  I am now a published writer and I have my book in a bookstore. When my next book is published, I will be able to have my next book in the bookstore also and I find that exciting. Looks like my computer is working just fine.  I am glad that I have a good place to bring my computer cause they fixed it and have no idea excatly what was wrong or what they did, but it works now.  I am a writer and I know nothing about computers.  I plan on having my next book  Always And Forever finished and online by January 2012. Once again.....I had computer problems.......I could not get on the internet since Friday.  I have no idea what happened.  I took it in and now it is fixed.  I know nothing about computers but now I am back and hopefully i will have no problems. I have the last two scenes to write and then my book will be finished.  I am working hard on the last two scenes cause I want them to be special so people will want to buy the next book in the series. Monday I re read the entire book and I like what I read, so I will have to rewrite a bit of it and then Edit Edit Edit and I hate to Edit. I just wrote for 4 hours and didn't have the television on and put 25 pages into the computer.  Who knew?  I was so excited about my story that I kept typing and writing and didn't miss the television. I know this might be silly but there are some shows that I am addicted to and think I need to watch them.  Like I am going to miss something.  The only way I am going to get this book written is to sit and type.  I now have 206 pages into the computer.  I was without my computer for three days, and I think I made up for it today.  I am very pleased with what I accomplished. When I start the editing process and rewriting I am going to have to do it without televison  I am going have to do it in silence and there is no way around it.  I am not going to miss anything on television.  Most of the time I can not remember what I watch. I was without my computer for the last three days.  My computer did something over the weekend and I had to take it in.  I wish I could tell you what was wrong, but all I know is that they fixed it and I just picked up my computer today.  Sorry I haven't been blogging for the past three days. I have been writing in longhand, and working on my last scene of the book.  I want it to be special and very romantic.  I watched the movie Water for Elephants.  Good love story.  I liked it. I watched Bridesmaid.  Didn't care much for that one.  They could of left out the things that made it an R rating and it would of been a better movie.  I also watched Alvin and the Chipmunks.  So cute, if you are in the mood to watch a movie that is just cute .  I love listening to them sing. I got up way to early on my day off.  I could not sleep.  I prayed before I got out of bed and decided to work on my book.  I typed in 20 pages and didn't leave the computer for 4 hours. That may not be a long time to some, but for me, that is pretty good.   I am excited about this book and January is my deadline.  I found a bookstore to carry my books and this is my time and I need to finish this book and work on the next. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth the effort.  I don't have the answer to that, except that I live to write.  It keeps me sane and I like to write.  So I write.  I am excited.  I need to make some notes and re read what I have typed so the work is not done yet for the day. I typed ten pages into the computer before I went to work.  The more I type, the more I like my story and want to finsih it.  I have to get up early to get anything done, though i am a bit more tired, but that is okay, cause my deadline is january. I think it is good to have a deadline.  makes me want to meet the deadline and keeps me focus.  If you don't have a deadline, then you have no goal and not trying to get anywhere. I think my deadline is reasonable and I don't see any obstacles in my way.  The heat was in my way, the month of August, but now it has cooled off and now I am on the computer more. So I am setting deadlines and see what happens Ruscue Me is on in 30 minutes.  That show of the series, so I will not be writing while that is on.  I want to see the end of that show. Now that I ordered my books and autograph stickers, I am waiting on the mail.  I am not sure it labor day made the delay. I need to mail my books to the bookstore and have no conformation on the books I want them now.  I need to calm down and stop thinking about the mail.  I am very excited about my book being in the bookstore, and I need to finish the novel that I am working on and am very excited on working on my ending. The only problem with being is a writer is that you have to write.  You have to produce something.  Others are writing while you are doing other things. I decided to stop watching tv and get this book finished.  I am so close and it is easy to start thinking of the next book.  Start plotting the next book or short story. I do not like to edit.  Looking for every comma and misspelled word, but it has to be done.  So for the next few weeks or months whatever it takes I am focus and committed on this book. Are you focused on your writing??? I read on facebook that someone wrote 85,000 words in 5 weeks.  Another wrote two books and a short story this year.  WOW!  I need to get busy\.  People out there are writing and publishing their books. Last weekend of the summer, so they say.  Have some fun this weekend but don't forget to write.  make notes as you enjoy your cookout. I am going to work, and write this weekend.  I have my cover made and now I need to finish the book.  I just wish that it will cool off.  Once again, it is hot and muggy out.  So I am not on the computer that long. Yesterday I watched Arhtur & Jump the Broom.  Both were good movies. I like Tyler Perry Movies.  His characters are well developed and makes me think about my own characters.  I am watching Big Mamma Goes to Jail at this moment.
