A Writer's Life

  1.  Make sure they will be there next year for you.  Don't pick a tax person one year and then another one next year.  You want to keep the same tax person over years.  2.    Don't just pick someone.  Find someone you can trust.  If they cost a bit more, that is okay.  This is not the place where cheap is always better.  3.  Make sure you can contact that person throughout the year.  You may have questions that need answering in July. 4.  Make sure they are on your side and want to do your taxes right.  5.  Make sure that your tax person will back you up if you are ever audited.  They will need to explain how and why he did what he did with your tax return. I have had the same tax person for the past ten years.  I like going to him.  He knows me.  He knows that I am a writer.  I know that he wants the best return for me.  I can call him in July if I have a quest...

I am waiting for my file to get back so I can upload the 2nd Episode of Me VS Zombies.  While I am self published, there is alot of waiting.  Waiting for the book cover. waiting for the editor.  Waiting for the formatter.  Waiting for readers to find me. I am not complaining.  It is a fact.  I can not sit around and wait.  I need to keep on writing on the next episode.  promote and continue to move on.  I thought I was going to get my story formatted today and I was going to upload it today.  That did not happen and that is okay.  I can not let these details stall me.  I just move on to the next thing to do. There is always something to do.  Promote.  Blog, facebook, twitter.  Write, rewrite. So whatever happens I will move forward.  It would be nice if everything was on my timeline, but it is not and that is okay.  I need to up my word count and I am the only one that can do that Me VS Zombie...

I just finished my edits on the second story of Me VS Zombies.  Only to discover that I now have to rewrite Episode 3.  What I have written in Episode 3 will not go with Episode 2.  I am going to start from scratch.  So I am now behind in my word count.  Episode 3 should be already written.  It is not the end of the world, but I do now have to up my word count to publish Episide 3 in March. I sent Episode 2 So This Is Christmas to the formatter.  Should get it back this weekend.  Then it will be published this weekene and I will concentrate on Episode 3. So now that I am self employed, I have to edit one story, write the next story and promote the first story.  I have to keep each story straight, so I will know that the future stories will flow in order.  I am going to have to come up with a spreadsheet to keep track of all these stories.  I will share it will you, when I come up with one. No matter how much you sell on Amazon, you will recieve a 1099 from them. I recieved my 1099 from Amazon and Createspace.  This is the first year I recieved my 1099.  I must say that I was very excited.  As excited as selling my first book.  I am going to file as a writer on my taxes this year. My dream is now a reality and now fueling me even more to write and get publish.  I upped my plan to publish a short story every month.  Write a story, 10,000 words.  Publish it the next month. You might be wondering where I have been  Life got in the way.  I am still writing and on track on with my schedule. Me VS Zombies:  So This is Christmas will be out later this month.  I am waiting for it to come back from the Editor. I am working on Episode 3, though it is coming slowly.  I am trudging through it.  Hopefully I will get a lot of writing done this weekend.
