I am writing a 4 Book series, but each book is a stand alone book, but they also will be connected to each in some way.
I am using Saving The Cat by Blake Snyder & Save The Cat Writes a Novel by Jessica Brody
Blake Snyder Jessica Brody I suggest you check out these 2 websites and by at least one of these books.
I am going to list the 15 Beat Sheets that is in Save The Cat, On Blake Snyder's website, is a breakdown of several movies on how every movie that is made has these 15 beats in them.
1. Opening Image First Scene of the Book
2. Theme Stated What moral issue is through out the book
3. The Set-Up How do you Heroine & Hero live.
4. Catalyst The thing that will change their lives
5. Debate They must decide if they should remain status quo or step into something new and unknown
6. Break Into Act Two The scene where they step into a new world
7. Fun & Games How it is fun at first and they see and do different things
8. B-Story A character that shows up, and and tells them things that they need to know
9. Mid Point A Plot Point 1/2 way through the book. A false Victory or False Defeat
10. Bad Guys Close In Things are going to get worse for them
11. All Is Lost This is when the Heroine thinks things will never work out and gives up
12. Dark Night Of The Soul The Heroine is licking her wounds and has to decide if she will go back to her old life or fight for this new life
13. Break Into Act 3 She steps into action to go get her new life
14. Finale This is how she goes and gets what she wants
15. Final Scene. This is the last scene in the book that will be exact opposite of the first scene in the book
This is what I am using. Go to Save The Cat Website
They have Beat Sheets on movies and you can watch the movie with the Beat Sheet in hand and see how it is done. This is what I am doing.
