10/10/20
Word Count: 3, 000 Words
Goal 125,000 Words
Deadline: December 31, 2020
I wrote 3,000 words in the morning. I didn't write in the afternoon.
I do not sit at a desk. I sit in bed, with my laptop on my legs and type for 2-4 hours. I blog before I start writing and do somethings on the internet before I start writing, so I am not thinking about other things when I write.
So I write in bed or in my recliner in front of the TV.
I have an office. I have a nice office, but when I sit at the desk, I feel all my creative juices drain from my body. I feel that I need to be perfect and produce something.
When I write in bed, I can just let my mind go and just write. I know that it is all in my head, but I can write, edit and publish in bed, so that is where I do most of my writing. My bed is my desk. I have notebooks, hard copy of what I am working on next to me.
I know that it does not work for most people but we are all different. So write where you want. You don't need an office when you write. You don't need a computer to write. You can write with pen and paper.
If you are on social media, they act like they did all the latest gadgets to write. You don't. I write in longhand sometimes. The important thing to do is to write.
I watched the movie Shelly Frankenstein The movie was about her life. She wrote the Book Frankenstein. I like that movie, because it is about a writer in the 1800's (I think)
She was poor. She had nothing. She wrote with pen and ink well on paper, and had to be careful not to smear the ink, once she put words to paper. She wrote Frankenstein one page at a time. They didn't have office supply store. There were no paperclips to hold the pages together. She had no money. Her child died young. She lived in cold and drafty places. She didn't complain. She wrote in candle light.
Writers that came before us, to do not have what we have. They wrote because that is what they did. They didn't complain about the inkwell or writing by candle light.
We are spoiled as writers with the computer. I learned to type on an 1950 Underwood Manual Typewriter.
I like to read how other writers write. Stephen King wrote after he was hit by a van, while taking a walk. Writers write. No excuses, though we all have them.
So it doesn't matter where you write or how you write, just write and soon your book will be done
Another note on Shelly Frankenstein is that when her book was published, Her husband had the publisher put his name as the author. Eventually she got her name on the book.
So write, because others before you wrote. It is who we are. We are writers.
I am going to write down, in bed with my laptop.
