Reality of Being Self-Published

This is my second week of being self-employed as a writer.  I am blogging this blog andI Am walking with God Blog  though I know I need to do it more regularly.
I have worked on the daily devotional, last week.  I have all 90 Scriptures typed in, and picked out a book cover. I used the Kindle Cover Converter and I am also going to make it a print book

2 days ago I wrote 3 thousands on my fiction book.

Yesterday I didn't write, I did my monthly grocery shopping and had to go back to my job, they were having a farewell get together at work, so I had to go.  I know there is no excuse for writing, but I feel that if one puts to much pressure on one self you will never write.
So today,  I am focusing on writing and blogging.

So what is the reality of being a Self-Published Writer.
1.  You are going to spend a lot of time alone.  You and your thoughts.  You and your characters.

2.  No one is really going to care if you write or not.  Their lives are going to go on whether you write or not.
3.  You might never make a sale.  Can you deal with that?

4.  You will get bad reviews.  Are you going to be able to deal with negative reviews

5.  People might return your book, after they buy it.

6.  If you spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on writing and publishing your book, you may never recoup your money.

7.  Promoting your book with suck your time and  your creativity.  Promoting sucks

8.  You will live and sleep thinking about your book,

9.  You will get tired of people asking where is their copy of the book, when you are not even done writing the book.  Also they will want a copy, but won't want to pay for it.

10.  It is the best feeling ever when you sell a copy of your book.  When someone you don't know buys your book online, you will know that you are a writer and no one can take that away from you.

11.  The best feeling when you sell a book in another country.  You then can say that you are a writer and have sold books worldwide.

12.  There is nothing like holding a print copy of your book in your own hand.

Write No Matter What

I woke up and felt like a truck hit me.  I still turned my computer on and started writing.  That is the only way the story is going to get written.  Do I feel like writing?  Nope.  Do if feel like Blogging?  Nope.  I write cause that is what I do.  So I poured me a soda and let the caffine take its effect.  I have to get ready for work in a bit, I blooged, I wrote a bit, so I am still going in the write direction. I write no matter what.  whether I feel like  it or not. Have a great day. http://sharonleejohnson.com/

Writing Everyday

I am in awe of people who can write everyday.  I have heard that for years.  Write Everyday, even if it is just one word, one sentence or 1,000 words. I believe it.  Writer's write.  It is that simple. There are people on Facebook, posting their word count.  I am in awe of those people. I try to write everyday, but it does not always work out that way for me. I guess what I am trying to say, it that don't feel bad if you don't write for one day.  You are still a writer. I know that this is NANO month and you are suppose to write everyday and at the end of the month, have written 50,000 words.  Which is awesome.  The way I am going, I am not going to make it.  I have no excuse but I have headaches everyday and I mean everyday.  Some days are better than others.  A lot of the headaches are sinus headaches.  I am not using this as an excuse.  I know that others have worse problems in their lives. So if you are a...
